| SALAQUARDA INTO THE POINTS AT THE DEBUT IN BLANCPAIN SPRINT SERIES |
22/04/2014 - Blancpain Sprint Series 2014 started with a points placing for Filip Salaquarda in the opening round of the season held in Nogaro (F).
In the two free practice sessions and qualifying the Czech driver classified close to the top ten. The Qualifying Race on Sunday has been run under the rain, condition in which Salaquarda displayed his good shape in a solid second stint whereby he defended his ninth place fending off Thomas Enge's attacks (Lamborghini) all the way to the flag.
In this occasion, the Main Race has been exceptionally run on Monday and the Czech driver gained a positive tenth place in the dry that earned him the first point of the season.
Filip Salaquarda:
"We knew that Nogaro is not a track favouring the Ferrari 458 Italia, but the whole team was quite motivated to start the season on the right foot. We focused on doing a good job on tires and this allowed us to progressively improve our performance and get into the points in the Main Race. The level of Blancpain Sprint Series is quite high but, needless to say, I am not happy about the result of this weekend. We necessarily have to do more".
The Blancpain Sprint Series will resume next 18 May in Brands Hatch (GB). |
