04/10/2015 - The penultimate round of the Blancpain Sprint Series 2015 has been held this weekend at the Misano World Circuit and I.S.R. Racing confirmed its growth securing a splendid one-two in Silver Cup.

The Czech team lined up two Audis R8 LMS ultra on the Italian track: the number 75 driven by Marco Bonanomi (ITA) and Filip Salaquarda (CZ) and the number 74 by the brothers Anders and Thomas Fjorbach (DK), back on track to compete in the Silver Cup.

In the first free practice session I.S.R. confirmed the growth shown in Portimao (POR). Bonanomi and Salaquarda posted the sixth quickest time, which made everyone hopeful for a good result in qualifying. The Audi R8 LMS ultra number 75 repeated the great performance in Q1 posting a very good 1'35.073 that was less than 8 tenths short of the quickest time, while the gaps in Q2 were closer, on lap times similar to the ones set in Q1. Bonanomi and Salaquarda ended with the thirteenth place in 1'34.450. Meanwhile, Fjorbach brothers were re-gaining confidence on the car after a few races long break: the three qualifying sessions ended with the eighteenth absolute time (1'35.718), which was the third in Silver Cup.

The Qualifying Race took place on Saturday, with headlights on. The different temperatures compared to qualifying forced teams to revise the data obtained during qualifying both in terms of driving style and tyres management. In this quite unusual situation for the Blancpain Sprint Series, Bonanomi and Salaquarda (n.75) had unfortunately to concede some positions and ended the race in P13. Anders and Thomas Fjorbach got the most out of the night conditions and recovered a good five positions, also taking advantage of some retirements, and secured an important win in Silver Cup, the third in this season.

The race was won by Seefried-Siedler (Ferrari) ahead of Kujala-Bortolotti (Lamborghini) and Ide-Mies (Audi).

The Main Race took place on Sunday afternoon as usual. During the warm up Bonanomi and Salaquarda found a good balance setting the quickest time, but in the race, despite lapping on very good times, had to defend their position in several battles and ended tenth absolute. Thomas and Anders Fjorbach, on the other Audi R8 LMS ultra struggled a bit more than in Qualifying Race, but managed anyway to pull the second victory in a row in Silver Cup, a result that strongly relaunches their name in the challenge for the title of the category.

The victory went again to Seefried-Siedler (Ferrari) as Buhk-Abril (Bentley) were second and Kujala-Bortolotti (Lamborghini) third.

When only one round is left to the end of the season, I.S.R. Racing is second in the Blancpain Sprint Series Silver Cup Team with 114 points, 16 short of the top. The situation in the Blancpain Sprint Series Silver Cup Drivers is similar, as Anders and Thomas Fjordbach are mathematically in the fight for the win when 33 points are still to be awarded. I.S.R. Racing is tenth in the Blancpain GT Series Team classification at 48 points, 7 shy of the ninth place.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
"This has been a bitter-sweet weekend for us. The drivers of the number 75 car could not get what they deserved, even if their times are improving, as witnessed especially by Filip's times. We run in several different conditions and it was not always easy to find some grip to us, especially on dry track: we still have to work on this aspect. I am happy for Anders and Thomas that, despite being away from the track for several months, managed to capitalize on their efforts getting two important wins for the team and for the Silver Cup classification".

The Blancpain Sprint Series will resume with the grand Finale in Holland at Zandvoort next weekend (9-11 October) .
