| FILIP SALAQUARDA ENDING THE SEASON ON THE PODIUM IN BARCELONA |
11/11/2013 - Filip Salaquarda ended the season as protagonist in Barcelona's final round of the International GT Open.
The Czech driver and co-equiper Fabio Onidi have been among the fastest in a weekend that saw more than forty cars on track. The number 56 Ferrari 458 Italia set the fourth and fifth time of class GTS in the two qualifying sessions, while in race one it obtained a positive fifth place. The third place seemed to be certain until a few hundredths of meters to the chequered flag but an insane manoeuvre of a rival started an incident at the last chicane which cost two positions to a flawless Salaquarda. In race two team AF Corse's lineup confirmed its competitiveness with a brilliant third place that allowed Salaquarda to end the season on the podium.
Filip Salaquarda:
"We did a great job since qualifying setting the foundations to a good result in the race. The podium was our main target therefore we are happy on achieving it: we could have been on the top three also in race one but a gross mistake of a rival stripped us from that position. Some contacts at the limit of regulations penalized us a bit also in race two which calls for more professionalism from a lot of drivers. Despite of this, I ended a good season on a high and credit for this is also due to the stunning work done by the whole team AF Corse". |
